Okay now lets see how does my "new" BFG 8800 Ultra fares against a highly overclocked Sapphire HD4830 which when overclocked is much faster than a stock ATI HD4850
BFG nVidia 8800 Ultra Spec :
GPU : G80
Test Clock Speed : GPU/RAM : 630MHz/1110MHz
Stock Speed : 610MHz/1050MHz
RAM Buffer : 768MB DDR3
Bus width : 384 bit
Driver : WHQL 185.85
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4830 (Overclocked) Spec :
GPU : RV770
Test Clock Speed : 680MHz/970MHz
Stock Speed : 575MHz/900MHz
RAM Buffer : 512MB DDR3
Bus width : 256bit
Driver : Catalyst 9.4
~~ 3DMark06 Scores ~~
BFG nVidia 8800 Ultra : 12194 points
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4830 : 10343 points
~~ Test bed ~~
CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 3.4GHz on stock cooler
Mobo : Biostar T-Power I45
RAM : 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 @ 840Mhz 5-5-5-18
PSU : Corsair TX650W
OS : Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
Hehe so as can be seen,it clearly shows who wins and the reason I overclocked the HD4830 is to make it as fast as the current HD4850 which uses the super fast RV770 GPU (as suggested by Overclockersclub.com).So as has been proven here, the 8800 Ultra may be outdated in terms of age but in terms of performance, you cant say anything about it as the number has shown that the 8800 Ultra wins by a margin of almost 2000 points which is quiet significant.
So to people out there, newer technologies may not necessarily brings the best performance.Hoho please give ur comments..TQ
