The real battle : GTX 260+ VS 8800 Ultra ~ and its serious !!!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,I have received a lots of feedback from my previous GTX 260+ VS 8800 Ultra mini review and one of the feedback is not to rely on synthetic benchmark scores and yes ladies and gentlemen I shall answer to those demands by putting the two same card yet again side by side to see which of the graphics card came out on top in this round..I present to you the cards that shall be put to the test today

Purpose of test : The 8800 Ultra is more than 3 years old and the GTX260+ is less than 1 year old,but does new technology really means superb performance boost if compared to the old technology?Let us see can the BFG 8800 Ultra OC Edition cope and stand on similar footing with the much newer Winfast Leadtek GTX260+ Extreme..come lets see how these monster of graphics card fight each other in real life gaming experience

GAME TEST !!!

Using the latest Dunia engine,Far Cry 2 promises eye catching scene and is a good game to test your card prowess. Now lets see how these card perform in this game.

Now I do not want to set the game at the lowest setting as that would be inba..so just to squeeze the juice out of these nice hot GC's,all the game tested here will be put to the highest possible setting available in the game to see who came out on top at the end of the day.

~~FINAL VERDICT ~~

As stated before that the importance of this test is not to show who is the best amon the two of them. The GTX260+ does lead all test thanks to its latest technology used with superior memory bandwith and memory buffer if compared to the 8800 Ultra.BUT..as clearly can be seen through all the test, though the 8800 Ultra is an old card and take into account that the GTX260 is an overclocked version, the 8800 Ultra is just short of a few FPS,a mere 5 to 9 frames difference and saying from my experience..frames which is more than 45 FPS have no difference to the naked eye.

So what I am trying to say here again and again =)is that the 8800 Ultra is still a competant card and this test has again shown that the card can match GTX260+ which is indeed a fair comparison class.

  3. First of all, you mentioned that the GTX260 is an OC version and that helps it to lead the test. How about the 8800 Ultra? It is also an OC version. Therefore this point is MOOT.

Second, as mentioned by the commentor above me, why only test in 1280x1024 mode? Don't tell me it is because many gamers still using this resolution. If they are still at this resolution, they won't be able to buy such a graphic card. Please use another higher resolution monitor to retest.

Third, please stand on a neutral line when doing a review. It is VERY obvious that you are siding 8800 Ultra in this review.

Overall, this test is MOOT. If you are a university student and you are presenting this for your final year project, I would say you will most likely fail.

  4. The reason i use 1280x1024 is because that is the max resolution supported at the ACER AL1717 =).I've never heard people can force monitor displaying resolutions that they do not support

Haha everyone seems to have misunderstood the purpose of my test.It is not because to prove which card is better or who shall win,but rather to say that even a mature card like the 8800 Ultra..it still is strong enough to play in good frame rates and the reason i compare it with GTX260+ is to make it a much better comparison coz i I compare with mid end cards..no point oso if compare to or example : HD4850 or 9800GT..better compare it with GTX260+ rite?

Hoho am I trying to be neutral ? Yes I am as I am not paid by anyone and its just me voicing and sharing with u guys on what I have found out from my test huhu

Peace and thanks for the feedback bro, hope to receive more =)

  5. Since you are able to borrow a GTX260+ from your friend, why don't borrow a higher resolution monitor also? Don't tell me you have no friends who has them. If your test bed is not complete, you might as well don't review it. Do you know what is important in a good review of GC? Synthetic benchmarks, game benchmarks, maybe a few of nice pictures of the GC in action, and most important is a test bed good enough to pump all of its juice out. In your case, both the GC is very limited by the resolution of your monitor. Why bother to post a review if you are not maximising their potential? POINTLESS.

You are not trying to be neutral from what I see. Maybe you are trying to emphasize on how strong 8800 Ultra is to sell it off? Usual tactics for sellers. What they sell is always the best. It is hard to be neutral that way.

  6. if you read and follow my blog I do have the pics of the GC used and have shown to u guys my test bed pics huhu =)

  7. setakat try je tapi x OC.. ehmm.. x guna gak.. try la OC kaw2 bodo..

  8. haha what do u mean by OC ? This aint a CPU contest but a GPU vs GPU..which is a comparison between architecture, not that higher clock speed equals to faster frames =)
